If you follow me on social media, you may know that for almost a year, I’ve been supporting my partner, Jaime Jasso, as his first independently written, directed, and produced short film, La Piedra Roja, makes its way through the international film festival circuit.
Here’s the twist: La Piedra Roja is in the horror genre.
As a spiritual healer deeply rooted in Christ Consciousness, I often sense the unspoken question:
“How can someone devoted to spiritual light partner with someone working in the realm of horror?”
The horror genre is traditionally defined by its goal to evoke fear, suspense, and discomfort—using atmosphere, supernatural elements, and jump scares. But not all horror is created equal.
In La Piedra Roja, the genre becomes a vehicle for exploring profound spiritual themes:
This film reminds us that spiritual truth can emerge from even the most unexpected places—and that not all stories that disturb are negative. Some are meant to awaken.
In spiritual communities, horror often carries a negative label. People assume it promotes violence or darkness. But the genre also challenges us to confront our fears and consider the unknown.
Horror, when done with intention, can become a sacred mirror. It reflects our deepest fears and helps us explore what it means to face evil with courage, truth, and spiritual strength.
Films like La Piedra Roja don’t glorify darkness. Instead, they shine light on the hidden parts of our consciousness. That’s where real transformation begins.
One of the most compelling aspects of La Piedra Roja is its respectful use of Catholic imagery.
Symbols like the seal of St. Michael the Archangel appear not as decoration, but as tools of divine protection. Jaime, as a filmmaker, included them with intention and reverence.
Many horror stories borrow from religious archetypes—the battle between good and evil, faith versus fear, and sacred objects with spiritual power. When used wisely, these symbols resonate with audiences on a spiritual and emotional level. They remind us that light always has the final word.
La Piedra Roja does more than entertain. It invites viewers to reflect on their own spiritual lives.
The film explores what happens when humans ignore the sacred, and how grace still shows up—even when we go astray. It offers a powerful reminder: spiritual truth doesn’t only live in obvious places.
This story shows how fear can wake us up. It proves that healing and light can appear even in shadows, when we choose to look deeper.
We live in a world that often forces us into either/or thinking. But real growth happens when we sit in the middle—in the gray spaces where creativity, faith, and truth overlap.
As a spiritual healer, I see La Piedra Roja as more than just a film. It’s an invitation. It asks us to stay open, to explore spiritual lessons in horror films, and to remember that sacred truth can reach us in surprising ways.
I hope this glimpse into La Piedra Roja and Jaime’s creative journey offers you a new lens for understanding the sacred potential within storytelling—even the kind that surprises us.
May we all continue to seek truth, beauty, and healing—even in unexpected places.
